I chose the Mute Swan for the Voices of Healing forum, because it felt an appropriate symbol for the countless number of kids who suffer in silence due to bullying.
But there is a beauty and dignity of spirit in this magnificent bird, just like within every human heart, no matter how far removed it may seem.
And it's actually not entirely mute. The Mute Swan can make some sounds, but more than that, it has been described to make almost melodic music with the beating of its wings in flight.
To me this bird is a symbol of the tenacity of the human spirit that seeks to find its own song no matter the circumstances. It is my hope that in this forum, we, the survivors, and those who just care, will speak out and make ourselves heard - not only for ourselves, but others. There's much to be discussed and much to be shared.
I have created a space for
general discussions on bullying and a place for
the artistic sharing and expressions of personal experience.
Some stories are painful and touch you in the darker places of despair. Some are inspirational, the flicker of a tiny flame or a single ray of dawn between the shades. However it comes, there is healing in the telling.
With whatever you have, wherever you are, I hope you find your voice, discover your song and fly.

(Tried to get the links to work so you could listen to the song through your own default music player, but couldn't get it to load in my MusicMatch. So you're going to have to listen to it through soundclick's player - sorry)
(I am still working on this forum. But please register and start making posts! Now is always a good time to start the conversation.)
